WOW, how fast has this year gone by, I can't believe that is fourth term already. It is going to be an extremely exciting term. This Friday we will be starting our Grade 6 Graduation Fundraising activities. We are going to be having a Sausage Sizzle on Friday, we would love for everyone to help us by buying a sausage or veggie burger (order forms will go home on Monday). The following Friday we will be selling ice-cream cones at lunchtime and then the next week we will be having a cupcake stall (all cupcakes will be made by the student!)
Curriculum wise, the first of our major events will be the Level 4 Regatta where the students will be creating a boat/craft to race in the Regatta. The Regatta will be held on Thursday 28th October. The time is still to be confirmed. This will be a fantastic learning experience where all the students work in teams to create their craft.
Also this Term Miss Harris is back with Grade 6M to complete her final teaching round. It will be fantastic to have Stacey back with us. It will be great to have an extra set of hands around to help out with Graduation performance preparation.
After Week 4 we are going to be starting a new topic which focuses on creating and maintaining a healthy lifestyle and keeping ourselves safe and preparations for secondary school. In the first week of November the three week Family Life/Human Development program will begin. We will also be running a Bike Education program later this term.
The Grade 6 Graduation date has been set for Monday the 13th December. Undoubtedly this will be a highlight for many of the students.
Stay tuned to see our claymations from last term.

It has been another extremely busy week in 6M. We had our reward afternoon on Wednesday and it was fantastic to see everyone working and playing games together.
We have been busy with our claymation projects and we will be doing our photography next week. Hopefully we will be able to present the animations at assembly over the next few weeks.
Today was Book Week parade. All the student came dressed up as a character from Alice in Wonderland. It was great to see the team spirit and everyone getting involved.
Also HILSON won AUSSIE OF THE MONTH at assembly this morning. Congratulations!
Over the past few week we had set ourselves a challenge with a game call cross ball. The challenge was to throw four balls consecutively down the cross ball line. For the last three weeks we have been hovering at the 20 second mark, and it felt that it was going to be impossible to break out record of 20.9 seconds. Finally, today after weeks of practise and team work we shattered our time to 15.7 seconds. It was great to see everyone in the class persist in this task. Well done!

Also this week I was able to have a look inside the new building. It is still a little off being completed but it is starting to take shape and we are all getting very excited about being able to use it in the near future. I am extremely excited at the prospect of having a kitchen space for cooking with the students.

I've ordered the plasticine and have got everything ready to go. I will keep you updated with our progress and of course publish our finished productions.
We are all getting very excited about the district athletics next Thursday. It is fantastic to see that all the student are practising to further develop their skills in their events. It will be a very exciting day and it would be fantastic if parents are able to attend to support the children. Don't forget to return your permission note and money ASAP.
Swimming will be starting on the 23rd of September. If there are any parents wanting to attending over the nine days, please feel free to do so. There are a couple of seats available on the bus if you would like to travel with us. However, if you want to come on the bus please contact me so I can arrange it. Don't forget to return your permission note ASAP.

LEVEL 4 CAMP 2010
In Week 2 most of the Grade 5/6 students headed of to ACE -HI RANCH for a 5 day camp. We all had a fantastic time and there were too many highlights to highlight. Everyone seemed to love the flying fox, giant swing and rock climbing wall. But without a doubt the most talked about activity was the horse riding. So many students and teachers participated and everyone seemed to really enjoy it.
It was great seeing the students in such an informal environment and really trying there best to give everything a go. It was so lovely to hear all the fantastic comments from the camp staff about how well behaved and polite all the KPS students were.
Unfortunately camp is over for another year, but it won't be long til the next camp for Grade 5/6 rolls around.

What's happening...
Wow, what a busy week in Level 4. This week all the Grade 5 students have been doing the NAPLAN testing, which is now over. Yesterday it was cross country. All the Grade 6 students had to run about 3km. All I can say is what a superb effort from Alex. He completed the entire course without a single stop, running the entire way. That is pretty awesome!!! It was also great to see so many of the students put in such a fantastic effort. Congratulations to all students that got through to district. District cross country will be on Thursday 20th May at Westerfolds Park.
We are all getting very excited about the circus concert. It is just over 4 weeks away and the students are already looking great. I am not sure who is more excited, me or the students.
Next week as many of you know it is Education Week. On Wednesday we are having an open night and the Level 4 students will be doing a short performance between 6:30 and 7pm, parents and students are then welcome to come back to the classroom and check out what has been going on.

Congratulation to AARON LI. This week he was awarded student of the week for his outstanding leadership on the footy field. Friday's match against Chatham was a tough one, but Aaron displayed a gusty effort throughout the whole match. He was knocked about a few times by a considerably larger opponent but showed great team spirit every time and just kept on playing his best game. Well done Aaron!

WINTER INTERSCHOOL SPORTS
The Winter season of inter school sports has began. This week we played Beverly Hills at home and everyone played a great game. This year I am coaching the netball. All of the netballers showed great team spirit and played in such a positive manner. Unfortunately both the A and B teams lost, but it was an excellent effort on everyone's behalf. Lisa displayed some fantastic leadership skills and acted a great role model for her team. Gloria was also an excellent leader for her team, she modelled such a positive attitude towards everyone. Well done
Even though it has been a short week, we have managed to fit so much in. Yesterday, was a fantastic day. All of the 5/6's travelled to the city by train. Our first stop was the Museum, we had a great look at the Melbourne Story exhibition and then the Human Body exhibition. After lunch we headed to the Shrine. The medal wall in the main entrance was amazing. It was such a good day.

INTERSCHOOL SPORTS
Congratulation Newcombe A for their fantastic win at interschool sports.
As their coach it was wonderful to watch the Newcombe girls play in such a positive manner. It was great to see positive sportsmanship displayed by all those playing. The attitude of the girls was amazing, never giving up and always trying their best.
It was a rather close game. Kerrimuir won both set, but only just. For each of the sets, the scores were 13- OOPS and 15 to KPS. Old Orchard made sure it was a close game. It was fantastic to see everyone playing as a team. Well done.
