So far Term 1 has turned out to be a very busy year. We have started the year in our BRAND NEW building. It is very exciting to be in our new building and to be enjoying the facilities. We have had a rather successful start to Inter School Sport. This year we are playing against Old Orchard, Box Hill Nth, Wattle Park and Our Lady of Good Counsel. We have had a few wins and it is great to see the outstanding sportsmanship displayed by all players.
Next week we head off to camp. This year's camp is at Forest Lodge in Jack River, everyone is every excited and looking forward to a fabulous 4 days away.

TERM 4 BEGINS
WOW, how fast has this year gone by, I can't believe that is fourth term already. It is going to be an extremely exciting term. This Friday we will be starting our Grade 6 Graduation Fundraising activities. We are going to be having a Sausage Sizzle on Friday, we would love for everyone to help us by buying a sausage or veggie burger (order forms will go home on Monday). The following Friday we will be selling ice-cream cones at lunchtime and then the next week we will be having a cupcake stall (all cupcakes will be made by the student!)
Curriculum wise, the first of our major events will be the Level 4 Regatta where the students will be creating a boat/craft to race in the Regatta. The Regatta will be held on Thursday 28th October. The time is still to be confirmed. This will be a fantastic learning experience where all the students work in teams to create their craft.
Also this Term Miss Harris is back with Grade 6M to complete her final teaching round. It will be fantastic to have Stacey back with us. It will be great to have an extra set of hands around to help out with Graduation performance preparation.
After Week 4 we are going to be starting a new topic which focuses on creating and maintaining a healthy lifestyle and keeping ourselves safe and preparations for secondary school. In the first week of November the three week Family Life/Human Development program will begin. We will also be running a Bike Education program later this term.
The Grade 6 Graduation date has been set for Monday the 13th December. Undoubtedly this will be a highlight for many of the students.
Stay tuned to see our claymations from last term.

It has been another extremely busy week in 6M. We had our reward afternoon on Wednesday and it was fantastic to see everyone working and playing games together.
We have been busy with our claymation projects and we will be doing our photography next week. Hopefully we will be able to present the animations at assembly over the next few weeks.
Today was Book Week parade. All the student came dressed up as a character from Alice in Wonderland. It was great to see the team spirit and everyone getting involved.
Also HILSON won AUSSIE OF THE MONTH at assembly this morning. Congratulations!
Over the past few week we had set ourselves a challenge with a game call cross ball. The challenge was to throw four balls consecutively down the cross ball line. For the last three weeks we have been hovering at the 20 second mark, and it felt that it was going to be impossible to break out record of 20.9 seconds. Finally, today after weeks of practise and team work we shattered our time to 15.7 seconds. It was great to see everyone in the class persist in this task. Well done!

We are all getting very excited about the district athletics next Thursday. It is fantastic to see that all the student are practising to further develop their skills in their events. Swimming will be starting on the 23rd of September. If there are any parents wanting to attending over the nine days, please feel free to do so. There are a couple of seats available on the bus if you would like to travel with us. However, if you want to come on the bus please contact me so I can arrange it. Don't forget to return your permission note ASAP.

LEVEL 4 CAMP 2010
In Week 2 most of the Grade 5/6 students headed of to ACE -HI RANCH for a 5 day camp. We all had a fantastic time and there were too many highlights to highlight. Everyone seemed to love the flying fox, giant swing and rock climbing wall. But without a doubt the most talked about activity was the horse riding. So many students and teachers participated and everyone seemed to really enjoy it.
It was great seeing the students in such an informal environment and really trying there best to give everything a go. It was so lovely to hear all the fantastic comments from the camp staff about how well behaved and polite all the KPS students were.
Unfortunately camp is over for another year, but it won't be long til the next camp for Grade 5/6 rolls around.
